About Me

I was assigned to the 281st MP Co. from  Feb. 1972 until July 1976. I was wondering if any other members have developed Type II Diabetes and or any type of blood or bone cancers. I developed diabetes about 6 or 7 years ago and multiple myeloma in 2010. I spent 40 months there and a lot of the areas we worked in that were free of vegetation. I do not remember the names of a lot of my buddies. I ran into a friend years later but he was the only one I have found. It would be great to hear from anyone that was there and might remember me. Just found some old photos and it brought up a lot of memories,. email is

Thanks for the reply, I've been racking my brain trying a common link, I do remember that at sometime in 72 a group of us from the 281st signed up for an automotive training program. Not that we were all that interested in mechanic work I thing we just wanted to get off line duty for awhile. Do you remember working building 5190 over in the AMPAC area? Never knew what that place was, but it was a long lonely shift, that and the back gate at Vyama. You must have run into Greg Vigue, he and I were drafted together in Maine in 71, did basic at Fort Dix and MP school at Fort Gordon. We got to be good friends, he was in Bangkok the whole time I was there. Lost touch with him until about 10 years ago. He was in Maine and we got together. He spent 24 years in the MP's. Thanks for the information on Nit, I always wondered about her and what kind of life she had, nice to know something about her. Your comment about your first day on duty made me laugh, there were a lot of pot heads in the 281st when I was there and it was kind of an ritual to freak out the rookies. I enjoyed your pictures, I have a few, but unfortunatly years ago I lost most of mine. I had hundreds of slides and photos. I'll try to load some of what I have on the site, there may be a few of people you might recognize.

I was with the 281st from Aug 71-Oct. 72. Can't place you. I worked with Sgt Tealing, John Orth, Jim Grady, Randy Ferguson. Sgt. Smith was 1st sgt. Spent a lot time as patrol sup for my platoon, so I saw a lot of the Samae San area. Spent some time with Nit the tailor, she was great girl. Have some great memories of my time there.
